Why Do I need an Engagement Session?

Aside from providing you with beautiful, emotional portraits in a casual setting, engagement sessions allow us to get to know each other before the big day. Knowing what to expect from your photographer and feeling relaxed in front of the camera are both so critical for photo success. During the engagement session, we love to work with you nd find he styles, smiles, angles, and poses that work best for you as a couple in a pressure-free setting. That way, when your wedding day comes around, we'll have already practices picture-taking together and everyone will know what to expect!

Engagement sessions are the time for you and your beloved to show your inner selves, your love for one another, and your favorite outfits in a relaxing and enjoyable environment. You are welcome to choose a location that speaks to you in a personal way, or let me recommend a few of my favorite spots based on experience. Some couples choose their proposal spot, others their favorite restaurant, winery, or flower field. I can't wait to get you in front of the lens and bring out what makes you a special couple!

Let's Plan for a First Look

Over and over again we have been asked what our favorite moment of photographing a wedding is; and every time our answer is the same: the moment the groom sees his beautiful bride for the first time. There are no words to describe the incredible emotion that flows between the couple during this special and fleeting moment, so we document it with images instead!

First look photographs generally happen directly before the ceremony begins, but after the bride and groom have gotten dressed for the wedding. It's an amazing thing to watch, and our clients are constantly telling us how meaningful the First Look images are for years to come.

Since there is generally very little time in-between events at a wedding, it is important to plan for a First Look in the official wedding timeline. We are happy to make timeline suggestions that will help you carve out time in your day to create a First Look experience. Although a First Look might not be for every couple, we highly recommend them and absolutely love capturing this special moment for you to relive again and again. It's one of those moments that happens only once in a lifetime...you're going to want images to remember it!

The Moments In-between

We remember life as a string of big events; epic happenings that define our lives and live on in family stories. Weddings are no different - the main focus in wedding planning is on defining the events - the kissing of the bride, cutting of the cake, father-daughter dancing, the bouquet toss. Yet, what about the moments in-between? What about the tiny serendipitous small things that happen without planning, just from a room full of love? What about a small touch, a smiling face, a kind word - in-between the big events?

These moments are what we live to capture. The moments that are often overlooked, but together make up the very emotional essence of a wedding, and of our lives. These moments are so incredibly special - we strive to give them life and the importance they deserve. Moments you may not even notice at the time, but look back on later in photographs and cherish. Your final images will reflect not only the big happenings during your wedding, but all he little pieces of story along the way. This is our specialty, and our passions.
